then you can if you desire use Bart's PE to make a bootable CD that features a Snap Shot plug-in which enables you to run the sanpshot program from the bootable cd-rom in case your boot drive or data drives craps out; you can make a total restore in minutes!

***** PS****** I suggest you dont play with the virutal drive and Drive Mapping and all that until you get some confidence with the program; back-up your drive to a file
if you have a extra drive laying around you can paractice restoring a drive from an image thats what gives REAL confidence in your back-up when you can do it; before you need to!
Another way is to use Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image. I prefer True Image because it is cheaper and has more features than Ghost. After all you can get a free True Image 7.0 and perform all your tasks with it. Here is a link to get a free serial: http://www.acronis.com/mag/vnu-ati7
I would imagine the Acronis version works equally as easy; that program also has a plug-in for Barts PE bootable environment for system restoration which is VERY handy when the boot drive OS has crashed.
