Do you mean the default pictures that XP lets you choose when choosing a new background?
yes those such as if you have them, azul, vortex etc.
do you know where the locations of those are?
Windows + E keys at the same time or Start>
All Programs>Accessories>Windows Explorer
C\Windows\Web\Wallpaper
sweet i got it, but what i really wanted was like a picture that i saved as the background off the internet.
i can see it whenever i choose a background off that list but when i went to Windows\Web\Wallpaper, it didnt show those. do you know where those may be?
If you got on off the internet save it to somewhere you easily remember such as my documents or desktop.
Open the choose a desktop menu and click browse.
Look for your file.
Make sure its set to sketch and click apply.
no, thats the thing i dont know where it is.
like i know where the image should be, but its not there. Im thinking that it saved it in 2 spots and im looking for the other spot.
try loading the picture in the browser, once its fully loaded, right click it and select set as background

Thats a different angle to look at it from.
what?
i dont think you get what im saying

Do you mean there is a shortcut to it?

Try searching for the image (Press Windows key + F).

This may not be the correct way, but it should work...

Set the image you want as your desktop backround, right click the desktop, click on 'Arrange icons by', and untick 'Show desktop icons'. Now Print Screen it, and paste in paint. Save it.
You can right click on the pic and choose 'Save Picture As',
then save it in a new Folder you create. Or save it in
'My Pictures' or in the 'Wallpaper' Folder.

Default Windows backgrounds are in C:\Windows as bitmaps, if you clicked on an image on the internet and set it as your background, I believe (as in I am not sure) it stores it in a temp folder somewhere till you change it. I have had the same issue where I couldn't find the physical location either. I always save the image to my comp, then select it as a background to avoid this.

yes thats my same problem
does anyone know where to find it in the temp folders? ive already tried looking
If you remember what the picture is called. DO a search as joe suggested.

If you cant, try a search with no words to search for, just leave field blank.

Or search by file type, though you'd probably wind up with a ton of returns.
