Do you mean the default pictures that XP lets you choose when choosing a new background?

like i know where the image should be, but its not there. Im thinking that it saved it in 2 spots and im looking for the other spot.
Default Windows backgrounds are in C:\Windows as bitmaps, if you clicked on an image on the internet and set it as your background, I believe (as in I am not sure) it stores it in a temp folder somewhere till you change it. I have had the same issue where I couldn't find the physical location either. I always save the image to my comp, then select it as a background to avoid this.what?

Or search by file type, though you'd probably wind up with a ton of returns.If you remember what the picture is called. DO a search as joe suggested.
If you cant, try a search with no words to search for, just leave field blank.
