My Sony Vio pcg f350 has a loose back connecting from lcd panel to motherboard one day while I was opening the laptop the backlight went out before I order a new lcd which under a bright light I can see that the screen still comes on and is working fine the question is do I need to replace the cable or the whole panel?????

have you tried opening up the laptop to make sure its not something obvious and disconnected. also, by your description it sounds like your back light went out, which probably is not a loose connector issues, and will probably end up forcing you to replace the screen, unless its just the power supply for it that went bad.
Check the following connections:
-Between the LCD Panel and the LCD Inverter Board (should be 2 wires)
-Between the LCD Inverter Board and the motherboard

Exercise caution with the Inverter Board as it is fairly high voltage (I found that out the hard way, not enough to kill, but still... it hurts).

If you have a "spare laptop" with the same size screen you can try swapping LCDs to identify the problem.
