I have a brand new mower, it ran perfectly through 2 mowings. Now it will start when primed but then stops immediately. The gas is new. filter is new and oil is good.
I do not have proof of purchase...cant find the receipt, so warranty repair is out. so I am trying to fix it myself. the cost to service it is close to the purchase price.

Any ideas on possible culprit?

pull the gas line off carb to be sure it is getting gas

If your mower is brand new why don't you return it to the place you purchased it? It should be under warrenty and the store should have record of your sale. Why make things hard on yourself?

Like mylsi said, you shouldn't need receipt...they have a record of the purchase...sounds fishy. Anyway, check the solenoid that is on the bottom of the carburetor...it has two wires leading to it and you should hear it click when you turn the key to the run position. make sure wires are connected and have good contact. if it starts with the primer, gas is getting to the carb so the most likely culprit is that solenoid.
