i have a dell inspiron 7500 with upgraded to XP, and i DOWNLOADED some AVI videos and they are thru real player, and it says it needs and update and looks for an update, but it wont update. and i tried to use windows media player with no luck. what do i do?

You can try to install a different AVI player. You can find a free one HERE.

Once you install the AVI player you should be able to watch AVI in either the player or Windows Media Player 10 -- or you can purchase any one of several commercially available software DVD players.
