Dear Friends,
I have been AVG 7.5 for last eight months on my windows xp (with vista transformation pack) system.It updates itself everytime through internet connection. Last time, on 5th or 6th( i dont recall exactly) when AVG was updated,since then it has created a lot of troubles for my computer.
All the executable files are not running when I double click them. I have to forcibly run them through browsing the path to the exact file location in program files of C:/ drive of the disk. Many extra features like the desktop sidebar, dock, etc are lost. i am unable to open any icon directly, and I cant run the icon in control panel as well. I am unable to edit the settings of any peripheral devices.
The same thing has happened with my two friends as well.

If you are using AVG free, support has stopped or will soon for version 7, Download version 8 free and see if that helps.

I have tried with avg 8 free version,but unfortunately the avg version8.exe file cannot be executed on my computer.

You might want to try a System Restore to before the last AVG update.

Assuming you have Windows XP as it shows in your profile

If a System Restore to a previous state (prior to the AVG action which seems to have caused trouble for your machine, so sometime before the 5th) does not help, you may have no recourse but to perform a repair install of the Operating System.
