A friends computer has AVG 8.0 (free) installed, running Windows XP

Using IE 7.0, with the homepage set to www.google.co.uk, when the browser is first started, it displays

Cannot find "www.google.co.uk"

...with the url in the address bar showing:

Code:
http://avg.urlseek.vmn.net/search.php?tbn=avg&type=dns&lg=ww&q=www%2Egoogle%2Eco%2Euk
It seems AVG is poking around a bit, I'm not sure how to turn this off?

The couple who use the computer are elderly, so something like this really throws them off. The browser works fine if you type in the URL, but I don't want to confuse them by having to explain this. The browser should launch, first time, displaying google.co.uk.

Any help appreciated...

Hello
We have the same problem on a new laptop (running on WinXP) as alexondrums except that typing in the URL doesn't work.
Tried TheBruce1 URL to fix but came back with same error apart from change to the end of the URL it was trying to reach (=www%Eavg%Ecom).

Any ideas?
Thanks for advice so far
