avg general error

I am currently having a problem obtaining updates, which is red flagging some of my protection, ie virus , shield, etc. Prior to that , an update for my ms went nuts. How can I fix it? I tried to contact avg (austrailia) no response.

I'm not sure if you've looked yet or not, but aside from AVG professional support, they also have free forums, which may be a good place to search for more specialized help: Free Antivirus | Forum - Free forum

Do you run a firewall of any kind (which could be blocking the updates)?

If all else fails, you could try an uninstall/reinstall of the program.

my firewall is showing as operable and active. I cannot receive updates for the entire program. if I uninstall, is it the same procedure as if It was day one? Thanks for the quick response 7 I'll try to find the forum for avg...jrdad

Yes, that's correct. After a successful uninstall, you will download and install just as though you did the very first time. However, to completely and properly uninstall AVG, you should use this tool in the event you decide to go that route: http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/support/avg_remover_stf_x86_2011_1184.exe
