Hello,

In the last few days I have updated Eudora to 7.1.0.9 & updated AVG yesterday to 7.5.

I use four email accounts all with Eudora over four different ISPs all via the same DLS connection.
NONE of the accounts were getting attachments today.
The email would arrive not with an "X" over the attachemnet name.....it would not show any indication of any attachment at all.
Spoke to Eudora & they convinced me it was not a Eudora issue?
Uninstalled AVG & now everything works fine.
Now I'm without protection, YIKES, any thoughts, anybody else having this problem?
I'm going to re-install AVG now & play with it a bit to see what happens.
Your thoughts?

When you run an update the AV's sometimes loose their balance in the sense that they do not recognize the same program again as "allowed".

What this means is that, you'll have to go into AVG and allow Eudora attachment s not to be scanned or deleted because at this moment in time, they're being truncated. Haven't used AVG for a while now so I don't remember accurately, but there is a config.. something like

Email scanner>Properties> ...etc

I would say stop the email scanning totally or disable the plugin on the email scanner which will allow you to receive your email and leave the other components of AVG up and running without loosing attachments.

Here's more: http://www.hackfix.org/software/configure/avg.html

Hi
In Control Center of AVG, click E-mail scanner then properties. Click Plugins tab>Configure. Uncheck "Use heuristic e-mail message filter" and "Remove attachments" in the Attachment filter section. Click OK. That should allow the attachments through.

Kalin.......hey, hello, you again !

Well,

I had a look around and found that it seems there a few problems out there with the latest version of Eudora.
This being the case I rolled my Eudora back to 6.2.? that has worked very well for me and with AVG for a long time.
I still had the problem?
I decided to uninstall AVG again & everything worked great, not safe but great.
I decided to move on from AVG for the moment & use Avast.
Everything now seems fine.
I will let Eudora figure out the problems w/ 7, fix them & then I will update again & decide then if I want to go back to AVG.

Kalin, just wondering.....
What are you using for virus protection these days?

thanks,

fmg

Hi pdxireland

Was busy in the middle of a project, thought I'd drop by ...

Well, I've used most firewalls, anti - viruses/spywares/trojan/worm etc out there as I'm friends with many ASAP members and those who own businesses which actually test/review such security software. I also have tested a few in the past but not since July now.

I had problems with many, paid or free.

The ones that worked and still work best for me as in terms of setup I'll list:

Firewall: Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall
AV: Avast!
AS: SpybotS&D, (disabled => Ad-Aware SE and AVG 7.5
Extra's: Spyware Guard, Spyware Blaster, IE-SPYAD, MVP HOSTS, CCleaner, Trojan Hunter etc... too many to list

AVG caused a system jam on mine, and was stopping my emails, deleting them etc even though it was off, as long as it was installed. I gave it another try just a month ago and no change. So I left it.
