my computer just recently 'lost' its ability to play back songs and any type of sounds. i know it's not my speaker's problem because they work well on a different computer. i also tried the 3 different inputs in back of the computer, but the problem remains unresolved. lastly, i tried getting into "Volume Control" on Windows98 [to see if it's on the mute mode], but somehow, no window pops up when i click the volume control program. this is so irritating! :sad:

Check in the Device Manager for a yellow ? beside Sound Video and Game Controller.
Do you know if your system has a sound card or if its on-board sound? You may need to reinstall the drivers

i cant find "device manager" o___O

press the button with the windows logo (usually to the left of the space bar) and the Pause button (usually around to the right of the F12 key) at the same time

it's one of those tabs in that dialouge screen

Right click My Computer click Properties then Device Manager tab

lol i clicked "reinstall driver" under the yellow ? but then it said that "windows was unable to locate a driver for this device" o___O
