Audio issues

1212 Views 11 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Houndog777
I just went from Vista to XP. It was a hard few hours to change all of the drivers, but I thought the audio was working fine.

I went to play some games, then everything started sounding fairly funny, and starting sounding like a worse type of quality.

When I was in Ventrilo, I was told that I am causing people to Echo.

Would anyone know where to find an Audio Driver?

Hi Uncle,
We need to know the soundcard, before we can advise on drivers.
Please give us as much as you know about the spec of your pc....motherboard etc.....or if all else is fine, just the name of the soundcard. Cheers!
Realtek ALC 888 High-Definition Audio
If you click on the "I accept the above", after a few seconds you click on next.
You're then shown a table of High Definition Audio Codecs.
Now click on the Vista Driver Executable File and download it.......................just run the exe file and it should install itself.
I tried this previously, but nothing really came into affect.

I went to playlist.com to listen to music, to see if it was better, and the quality was back to normal for only a few seconds.

It then started cutting out to terrible quality for around 2 seconds, then complete failure. I also noticed that Youtube videos would not play, and that the playlist that I have would not start at all.

Maybe there is another problem beyond the audio drivers?

Also, a week or two ago, I asked HP if it would be possible, switching from Vista to XP. I was given links to some drivers. I have tried the audio drivers over and over again, but they seem like they don't want to work.

Uncle, have you looked in the bios, to see if there are sound options?
My own bios has the option of using HD or the older AC97?
How would I be able to do that?
I just installed the drivers.

What I found out was there was a loose wire in my headset. I used my ipod headphones and everything was alright.

Also, You Tube videos are streaming/playing, so I guess that was a two-parter right there.

Thank you so much Houndog for your help. I was searching everywhere for a driver.

Also, when I install xp later, should I place those other drivers(^^ On the e-mail I received from HP^^) on their first? And then place the XP disc in? And would that overwrite the current one that was made for my PC, making it work properly?
Sadly, with xp, you must install the operating system first and then update and adjust.
Copy the good drivers you have found onto a cd/dvd/usbflash.
Install xp and then update all the drivers that HP have advised you to.
Also visit Automatic Windows Update to receive all the necessary security patches and hotfixes.
