Hey all
I have a rather obnoxious issue concerning my sound cutting out.
The relevant specs are:
Windows 7 Pro x64
Intel p55 uATX extreme MoBo with Realtek HDA
The HDA is outputting to 5.1 gaming headphones with no special software
Basically the way this story goes is after 20 to 30 minutes of playing a game the audio will mysteriously die. This never occurs during normal desktop activity's or any other sound heavy application (listing to music for example). It has occurred repeatedly well playing both Borderlands and Supreme Commander, but well playing Starcraft I have had no issue. The only way to get sound back so far is to restart the system.
Note: Windows does not seem to notice that the audio is out. Programs continue to output normally.
Steps taken:
*Reinstalled drivers for Realtek HDA (Windows 7 compatible)
*Reinstalled Borderlands, no change
*Shut down background task that may use audio, seemed to extend time before sound cuts out, but it has never been to the second before so may just be me
Any ideas?
OOH btw:
This rig had Vista on it for quite some time, and this never occurred then. That should rule out hardware issues, and most likely attribute this to Windows 7.
