Few days back as I was watching a movie in vlc, suddenly my speakers stopped workly.Even earphones/headphones have ceased to work.Compaq C794WU doesn't support windows-7 but I have using it since last 1.5 hours with minimal problems.

After trying hard with drivers and other workarounds,I reinstalled windows 7 but it still isn't working.Even I tried ubuntu 11.10,even there sound isn't working.

Please help

Here are the specifications of my audio device:

Conexant [email protected] 82801HBM ICH8M-HD audio controller

OS: Windows 7 ultimate x64

Laptop: Compaq C794WU

Thanks for the reply.

I tried unhidding from the view option of the device manager but didn't find amything with the yellow symbol.

I tried downloading the conexant audio driver from hp website for my model but it still didn't work, although it got installed successfully and got listed in the device manager.I also tried all the steps mentioned in the microsoft website for troubleshooting, but still sound isn't working.

At a software level everything looks ok.Is it any way to check if I have burnt out my sound processor?
