Today I was running Winamp and after a couple of minutes of itplaying fine, the computer froze on me. I restarted and while the desktop was loading, I noticed that the Windows startup music never played. I tried running Winamp again, and no sound, but I knew the song was playing because i could see the equalizer moving. After a couple of minutes, my computer froze again. I restarted again, and this time I played an avi file. The video played fine, except there was no sound. And after a couple of minutes into the avi file, my computer froze again. Anyone have any ideas on how to remedy this? Thanks

If you know how to get into the bios of your computer's motherboard, look for an entry like "Reset Configuration Data", or "Rest DMI", and change the value to "YES", save the bios change, and reboot. This will make the motherboard "look around" and redefine it's "knowledge" of what hardware is attached to it. Sometimes the bios "loses" the sound card/chip.
