Just upgraded my elderly comp's video card from ATI Rage LT Pro to ATI Radeon 9000.
Everything is fine with the upgrade except now I have atiptaxx in the startup folder and the ATI shortcut logo in the System Tray.

With this old comp, I like to keep Startup as lean as possible...can I remove these two items without negative effects?

With Rage card I had nothing in startup folder or sys tray.

Also, in All Programs (XP) I have Hydravision controls but no duplicate of the shortcut in sys tray?

Regards,
JF

Edit:
Installed drivers from within ATI envirnment....was wondering if it would have made any difference to use XP's "Found New Hardware" wizard?

no guarentee on this. what i would recommend is making a system restore point, and then deleting it from the startup menu.
it shoulddnt need to be running, as the drivers that go to windows work whenever you need to use the card.
