hi-

i just installed this mobo with windows7 clean install with P4 3.2 cpu...updated the bios to latest ver. everything seemed to work fine. except wouldnt boot with 2 gb of memory. always hang at starting windows screen. would boot up fine with 1gb fine. so i read to try to update the 865PE intel chipset. will when i did and shutdown pc instead of restart after installing. than turning back on wont bootup. just a blank screen now...fans run, nothing else seems to. tried clearing bios, removing battery, barebones, etc. wondering if anyone has ideas on how to maybe fix this problem? i wonder if it can be fixed...thanks!

What exactly did you update? The motherboard drivers in Win7? If so, try booting from the DVD and performing a Repair, or format and reinstall.

In any case, the memory issue sounds like a motherboard/BIOS issue and NOT a driver issue in Win7. Try different RAM. Not all RAM works with all motherboards.

updated the chipset driver off the asus website. figure might let the pc boot with 2gig. this file here V5.02.1003 but when it stated restart now or later i choose later. didnt restart but shutdown. than booted back after adding more memory and got blank screen. when i updated bios yto latest that went fine. but somoehow feel it got corrupted will try to load win7 cd but cant view anyhthing on mu monitor b/c nothing working currently. video, hardisk, floppy...when i disconnect the 4 pin harness on board thats when the drives start working, except floppy

Disconnect all drives and remove any addon cards. Switch back to the original 2GB of RAM. You should then have the MB, RAM, and video card. Try to boot and see what happens? Are you able to access the BIOS?
