hello, i have a ASUS K8V deluse SE motherboard, and i cannot access page in bios for formating / created partition, with my SATA hard drive when i want install windows XP. I have tried all four sata ports with same result. I already install XP (SP 2) on another ASUS motherboard, without any problems. If i take the sata disk, with XP installed from the correct motherboard, i install on the K8V deluse SE, it will run ok! but i will not have access to the internet? Also, if i Install Vista on the K8V deluse SE motherboard, installation run ok, with internet access...

any idea about this issue??
thanks!

You cannot format or create partitions within the bios, that needs to be done from the Windows XP setup. If the drives aren't being detected at the beginning of the setup make sure you have the SATA mode set to IDE, not RAID.

As for not having access to the internet, that will most likely be due to the other motherboard having a different ethernet chipset. You could fix that by installing the driver for your K8V.

hi, well i mean i can't create partition or format when i'm on the Windows XP setup from the CD. Windows say to me the disk is not plugged, or things like that, but when i boot the computer, i see my sata drive on the boot page startup. i'm on IDE mode, not sata. I do the same thing with my second motherboard (K8V-MX), and no problem!

let me know if you have any other suggestion

You probably need to load the SATA drivers then. They should've come on the motherboard cd, use another computer to put them on a floppy disk and when prompted during the XP setup, press F6 and insert the disk with the drivers.

I buy this motherboard used. I only have manual with. I already installed the sata driver (from Asus web site) on a floppy, then located them with F6. But if i remember, it will not work. May be i don't download the right?!
