Asus G50vt x5 Audio

Hi there,

I have a well known audio problem that happens with the Asus G50vt x5 laptop I have whereas the 3.5mm audio jack (green) constantly believes that there is a jack plugged in hence I cannot receive sound from the laptop speakers.

This is fine when I have headphones in yet not so much when I want to use the speakers.

My question is, as Realtek HD Audio Manager doesn't have the functionality to do so is there anyway I can force the sound to come through my laptop speakers and not the 3.5mm jack? (Software solution)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards
Sam

My guess is the problem is with the jack itself. It incorporates a spring-steel contact which is either 'open' or 'closed' according to whether the jack-plug is inserted or not.
This in turn opens and closes the speaker circuit.

This contact may have become dislodged or bent so that it no longer works as it should.
