I am using Win XP Home and am wondering if there is any way to manually decide on and assign drive letters to different drives, or are they automatically assigned at either boot-up or by the position they are on the cables (primary and secondary IDE's etc.)? Thank you.

Right click on my computer on the start menu, then click on manage, on the left click disk management,then on the right hand side, right click on the drive you want to change and you should see the option to change the drive letter.
