I've had my 9700 pro for about a year now and I've never had any problems until now. I was listening to music and the screen just went ridiculous, there were artifacts everywhere. I rebooted the computer and the artifacts were gone so I figured it was an overheating problem. I put a 20 inch fan next to the computer and the exact same thing happened like 30 minutes later. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi, welcome to TSF.

There's a few things you can do. First, download Everest Home Edition http://www.lavalys.hu/products/download.php?pid=1&lang=en
Open it and go to Computer > Sensors to see your temperatures and power supply voltages. Post back with the results (idle and after running for 30mins)

Test your system's power requirements at http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/ (you need java enabled)

Are all your internal fans spinning? You might need to clean the fans and blow compressed air into the case to remove any dust.

Apply some thermal compound to your CPU http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_silver_instructions_small.htm

Update your graphics drivers
