It crashes while i'm playing the game at random points there is no trend to it.

I have tried contacting activision who make the game but they are next to useless, i have updated all my dirvers and tried reinstalling the game but it has made no difference

I have noticed that when i install the game it fails to put an icon on mydesktop and in my start menu.

the last couple of days norton has started crashing too with this message

symantec framework has stopped working

GTA3 doesn't nearly require as much power as other games since it's only.. I dunno.. x64-bit? If even.. I know back on the PS2 it wasn't hardly slow and the graphics were good for the time - but resembled a N64's graphics.

Problem solved, or..?

Ah, not sure what would be causing this - that's what I'm trying to figure out - LOL

I'm very unfamiliar with PC games, but I know there's settings LOW - MEDIUM - HIGH, Choose LOW or a different one (if it's set on LOW).

Hi -

Both appcrashes contain a 0xc0000005 exception code - a memory access violation. The one above contains the appname ccSvcHst.exe - which belongs to Symantec/ Norton. My guess is that you have Norton Internet Security (NIS) installed. NIS and other IS products are notorious for crashing Vista systems (as well as Windows 7 systems). It is rare to see NIS itself crash as it usually does the crashing leaving behind the tell-tale 0xc0000005 exception (like it did in the other appcrash - but no mention of NIS).

Get rid of NIS and any other IS products installed on your system. This should give you considerable relief from appcrashes.

Download the Norton Removal Tool (NRT); save to desktop. Then go to desktop, RIGHT-click on the NRT icon and select Run as Administrator. When complete - re-boot.

NRT - ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

Reset the Windows Firewall to its default settings -
START | type FirewallSettings.exe into the start search box | click on FirewallSettings.exe above | select the Advanced Tab | click on "Restore Defaults" | Click Apply, OK

Use AVG for a/v if you wish - http://free.avg.com/download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition

Please let me know how you make out.

Regards. . .

Norton seems to have fixed itself with an automatic update, it is running fine now

do you still think i should remove it?

could it be causing call of duty5 to crash?
