Here is my problem under AOL 6.0 I could go into prefences and set my default mail to Yahoo as opposed to AOL. So when in Dice or Monster I clicked on an address and went into my yahoo account in compose an email. Now under AOL 8.0 the program tab is not even an option in Preferences in Internet OPtions in AOL. However in Control Panel Internet options in XP I can set it to Yahoo and when in Word if I select send it pops me into Yahoo. Question did AOL in 8.0 overide the "normal" options that are there and throw in their shopping assistant and dropped progam tab so you can not use other email while in AOL without typing or cutting and pasting. I have XP Pro and all the latest Service Packs. I asked AOL and they are clueless or lying. They keep telling me to change it in control panel well I did that on day one the problem is their internet options under AOL.

Let me ask you this concerning "parental controls" I am visiting my sisters and at the same time fixing her PC ( loaded XP Pro diaabled her 810e chipset and installed a real vid card etc.) and she set up an secondary ID in AOL for me to get to yahho and my work email without using her account. Coould she have set program control tab off? She would do something like that and would that cause the problem. Can I post copies of the screens here if needed. Although I have no problem getrting to any Web page just the mail. I am the Admin in XP.

It is an AOL thing so you cannot use other mail services. Ijust downloaded a 10 hours of free Junu a month and use it when I need to peruse Dice And Monster to send out my resume with Yahoo. It uses IE. The ads suck but free is frre and it beats cutting and pasting the address and subject line. Thanks for the yahoo tip I already knew that and yes AOL are bloodsucking leaches. They are doomed for more 1/4erly losses as more people hop on the cable modem lost 1 million subscribers this year alone. My brother in-law is switching getting digital cable, HBO and cable modem hookup for only 20 more than AOL is charging for dial up every month. AOL needs to re-asses its business model.

Thanks for you help
