g'day
I have a 8 month old Toshiba Satellite A200-PFAF6A laptop with a DVR-K17LF that will no longer read or burn DVDs. CD's are ok. Stopped working last Friday 13th (seriously!)

Running Vista Home Premium with SP1 installed (from a few weeks ago)
I have tried the deleted Upper / Lower Filers RegEdit without success (BTW iTunes didnt like this).

Cant seem to locate the correct driver on the Pioneer support site, so havent been able to try a driver reinstall as yet.

Device Manager is still showing the Drive as operating. Next step Toshiba tech support...groan!

Any other suggestions plz.....!?

in the device manger uninstall it and reboot and check it
try cleaning the laser
