1st off I'd like to say Hello. I am a NOOBIE on this site.
Here we go...Working on a Compac sr2044nx. Won't bore you with details and theorys on why it crash but the original HD gave up. I have upgraded the video card and sound card before this event. I have also replaced the RAM memory. HP website shows this motherboard is capable of 2gbs (2x1gb). So I put Kingston 1gb sticks on each rail. Replaced the Seagate 200mb serial HD cashed, with a Seagate 500mb serial HD, because Seagate apparently does not make a 200 any longer. XP loaded from the recovery disks without issue. Loaded the sound card drivers without issue, loaded the video stuff without apparent issue. Restarted....and got the Black Screen with DOS letters asking how I wanted to start windows.
with CD support
with command prompt
with netwerk support
last known good werking conflagration....

From this point, all it will do upon restart is go to this page... I am sure there is much more info that is needed, but its all the info I have at this time. Any ideas on where to start looking would be appreciated...
Thanks Tom Baytown Tx.
