Hi

As per my experimentation I think I now have been guided though all the basics needed to actually start off with a dual (multi) boot system, with multiple drives. I'm aware of a procedure on how to dual boot one HDD multiple OS', as I've done it for 4 distro's side by side. However they're all on one HDD and I want to dual boot them with a HDD with Win ME and WinXP on it.

Is it possible to switch between the two HDD OS's after they're connected up, one salve and another master?

If so how.

Thanks for all the help.

Right now I have XP on one HD, and another HD for Linux. There's no difference in the boot menu, it lists any OS on the system.
I just installed Linux Mint, it had the easiest dual-boot setup I've seen so far. You didn't have to do anything, it detected all my OS and configured GRUB correctly.

Can you tell us a bit more about Mint? I'd never heard of it a week ago. Suddenly it's on the radar screen.
A distro that does an end-run around the unofficial Ubuntu initiation rite or any part of it (you know what I mean; fstab, menu.lst, etc.) would have great appeal. I read their "About" page, and it sounds like they're on to something!

Dagnabbit, I had access to broadband yesterday but stuck without for several days now. Wish I'd downloaded a copy of Mint then!

Yes, I was happy how seamlessly it set up GRUB, detecting my 2 XP installations, and 2 Linux installs. I was however, disappointed with its less straightforward partition configuration compared to most other distro's I've installed. Maybe it's just me, but it was slightly confusing. Otherwise it's a very nice distro, first thing I did was install KDE, it uses the Synaptic PM which I love, flash 9 beta pre-installed, Java worked in Firefox 2.0.
I still like PCLinuxOS better. The installation for that was incredibly simple. I'm really excited about the upcoming PCLOS 0.94 release.

I've heard differing PoV's here. Many say that Fedora Core 5 will not install and run dual booted like that?

Is this simple procedure fit for FC aswell?

Like...what? With Fedora, you just need to manually configure GRUB. It's still not hard. Except I don't know how well it detects other Linux OS, I know it detected my Microsoft OS.
