I'm upgrading, i have an athlon xp1800 cpu, ecs k7s5a board & 256mb pc2100 266mh memory. when it boots the first screen indicates a speed of only1150. cmos has the cup clock spees at 100 and if i change it to 133 i need to clear the cmos and start over to get anything but a black screen. things just don't seem right. any thoughts?

the K7S5A uses AMI bios (which is horrible IMO)

Their is no multiplier option in the cmos setup (nor a jumper). SPD will detect the multiplier and you choose the clock. that is the most you can do. I suggest bumping the ram clock down to 100, and chip up to 133 (if you're not doing that already).

If anybody out there only plans to use SDR (and just that) on a amd/xP chip, I suggest not getting this board. I suggest the MSI K7T Turbo2. It's just as expensive, and known to be very stable
