all files turn to rar

all my computer files turned to winrar files. i dont know how it happened,
when i saw that the files are winrar i uninstalled winrar and all the missing file that could not open turned to unknown files with icon like a blanck paper with a fold in the corner. i tried restoring the computer to another time but it wouldnt , let me, so far i cannot open anything, not games, not the internet and some others.

what can i do?

Have you recently downloaded anything that would have caused this?
When did you first notice it was happening.
Have you run anti-virus etc?

its not a virus and if checked my anti virus its not some thing like that...
i think its so,e thing like when you try to open a file and the computer doesnt know with what to open it so he asks you and some one check winrar and by doing that all the files turned to winrar but i dont know how to change that...

Can you check Start>Control Panel>Default Programs>Associate a file type or protocol with a program.
When you say all files are trying to be opened with WinRAR, does that mean, MP3's, .exe, .doc etc
