Ok this deals with AOL Instant Messanger, I figured I'd put it in here as I couldn't find an appropriate area.

I recently deleted AIM and reinstalled it about a day or two later. Now, every time I click a link, or sign on, I always encounter the message: C:\Programfiles\Mozillafirefox\Mozilla.exe; system 5 error. I then click OK, and it allows me to browse to find a new application to open the link, which then I try IE or redirect it to mozilla, however it never works.

It's not a huge problem, just annoying whenever I click links and startup AIM, any help would be appreciated.

I honestly didn't believe I had any viruses, as I have a strong firewall and a few good programs that I constantly run. However, Housecall did pick up 11 viruses, which I got rid of and it didn't change anything.

I tried panda and that really didn't work on my computer, it's old and slow and couldn't handle it.

Could something be wrong with the directory?

being that your computer was infected with 11 infections that you know of, i would run hyjackthis and....copy and paste your log in notepad, and then post your log in the hyjack section of this forum.....[ are you running norton? ]

I also have a link related problem with AIM that I hope someone could help me with. This only happens with AIM, but everytime I click on a link it opens up the AIM folder in my C drive instead of going into Internet Explorer. I was wondering if someone could tell me how I could fix this.

Have you tried recreating the shortcuts?

Ethan... ditch all those programs and simply install McAfee 9 Home Edition. It will solve all your virus problems. If you need some spy-ware removal programs, use Ad-aware and Spybot S&D. Your best bet would probably be to reformat, get windows up-to-date, install McAfee 9 and keep both windows and McAfee up-to-date. I haven't had any trouble with this setup or known of any who has.

AIM problem

My problem with the links on AIM continues. I don't know how to direct the links so they open in Internet Explorer. It still just opens a folder in my computer when I click. Please any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

greetings
you should start your own thread.
assuming your system is free of spyware and viruses, go into internet options through the control panel, to programs and make sure internet explorer is checked off at the bottom, and under the advanced tab, click on restore defaults.

Problems

I did what you said. Went under the control panel, internet options, and then clicked on the advanced tab when the dialog box came up I clicked restore defaults. I restarted my computer but it continued to do the same thing. Is there something else I can do? Thanks.
