I want to upgrade my computer but i don't know where to begin looking. My video card is fairly new, so i was'nt planning on upgrading it. Instead im thinking about upgrading my CPU. But as i understand it if i want to buy a decent CPU, I'm better off upgrading my motherboard to support 939 or 754 pin sockets?

Current system:
MoBo: Winfast K7NCR18G
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2400+
Video: Radeon 9800 Pro AGP 256MB
Memory: 1GB

Iv been looking around various sites, and it looks like I could easily spend £150 or higher, but i don't know if it would be worth it. Any advice on what i should be looking at, or points in the direction would be greatly appreciated. I'm just trying to learn what all the mumbo-jumbo means :).

unless you want to spend a fair amount $$$$ more I would stick with the AMD Sempron 3300+ ~~ 754 pin / and an asus or abit mobo just make sure you can re-use your memory and your video card is a decent card / for your budget expectations I would forget about PCI-express or SLI & 939 pin processors as they will require quite abit more investement

compare prices on ebay & newegg.com / I would not hesitate to buy a used gamers board as they upgrade at the blink of any eye and you can find real good deals / just make sure the seller has a high postive feedback rating !!
