advice on home networking

Hello,

I live in a somewhat big house, so I am networking my home so that I can have an internet connection in every possible room (or at least, rooms that are occupied most of the time, more than others).

I researched and found out that HomePlug works for me. i just can't decide which is best? I already used devolo microlink but it often dies on me and I have faced several problems with it. I also use the network for gaming and such and heard that homeplug usually slows connections but I don't know if that's true?

Can anyone tell me what are the cons and pros of using homeplug systems? and what other options do I have to have a reliable, fast connection throughout my house without having to have ethernet cables crawling on my floors?

I wouldn't touch HomePlug with your 10 foot pole! It's most certainly hit or miss, and my experience has been it's miss more than hit!

I'd put a couple of 802.11n wireless routers on opposite ends of the house. It'll be a lot more certain to do the job...
