Hi,

(Sorry if this overlaps w my thread in Hijack This) -
I am the only admin on a laptop shared by several people including a teenager who is not very responsible. I have a user account w admin privileges as well as the Administrator account. I have noticed that when I change a program, eg upgrade Firefox, on the user/admin account that the Administrator account Firefox doesn't change. Is this normal? Does it mean effectively that things like Windows Updates are user-specific?

And when I run my antivirus, will it see everything on all users plus administrator, or not? Can I delete other users' cookies etc.

I have an HP laptop, run Win XP Pro SP2 fully up to date, Firefox 95% of the time, Kaspersky, Spybot Search and Destroy, SnoopFree, Winpatrol (but last 2 just added last few days). Thanks.

It will vary based on the program. Windows updates is a system-wide thing, but I believe this will only run for Administrators. Firefox keeps everything separate so addons and updates for one user don't affect the rest. Most antivirus programs will update for the whole system as well as scan the whole system for viruses. Some older ones, however, may not allow a full scan in a limited account.
