You can use a raid controller to connect your hard drives and use the ide's for removable drives.
adding third device
I tried to add a third device (DVD/cd player), but the IDE cable only have two hooks, the motherboard with two IDE connections are fully connected to the two hardrives and two devices, I understand that the IDE cables with two hooks are standards, how can I connect a third device? any suggestion?

You can only connect to devices to an IDE channel. If you want to connect more IDE devices I would suggest getting an add in PCI IDE controller card.
