I have a home built machine with this hardware

Asus a8v-deluxe mobo
2x512 pc2700 ram
a couple of hard drives
and a 400w power supply.

Last night I went out and bought a 1 gig stick after researching the QVL and crucial. Both said that it would work.

For experimenting I kept the 2 sticks in the 1 and 3 slots (have 4) and added the 1 gig to the 2 slot. Powered on and it only recognized 512 mb of memory.

I then powered off and switched the 1 gig to the 4th slot. Powered on and it recognized 1.5 gb. I did some things for a bit and then powered off to try to get it to recognized all of it.

I switched the 1 gb to the 1 slot and the two 512's to 2 and 3. I tried to turn on my computer but nothing AT ALL happens.

My mobo light has a green light on it and the power button is still plugged in. I removed many things and tried all different ram configurations but it still will not even power on. I unplugged the graphics card and other drives but still no go.

It's like I'm pushing the power button to an empty case. Any one help?

In advance I appreciate you help and suggestions.
