Hi Folks!
Having problem with "add/remove programs". WinXP Home Edition, Dell 3000.. When niece first brought machine to me it would not allow anything to be uninstalled (said had to be administrator--which she is)...
I ran install disk and installed xp over original (using repair on install disk).
Now it (add/remove programs) lists all the normal info on installed programs but does not give option to REMOVE on anything!! Weird one on me, first time I have seen this.. Any helpful suggestions from my favorite pro's out there???

It could be disabled in the registry.

Try following the instructions on the website below. If the values exist and they are set to 1 change them to 0 and if they don't exist then try creating them and setting them to 0.

Thanks for rapid response............ I am not that familiar with regedit but I did go in it and couldn't find anything that resembles what you said and wouldn't know how/where to create one..........any further help would be greatly appreciated..

Looks like i am not alone in that odd happening........ I tried that 23rd post; did nothing......I am about like quite a few of the others that posted--I don't want to format the drive right now so i guess i will wait.. Unless, of course, someone here comes up with a simpler way out... The add/remove section "looked fine" but would now allow me to remove any programs----stated i needed administrative approval.. Then the add/remove part was gone after i reinstalled XP (no formatting)... I installed a program just now and it has the add/remove in it....... Any more ideas; ANYONE??

I have created a simple program which will alter the registry automatically for you if you want. I've attached it.

Hopefully that will fix it.

If it doesn't run make sure that you are an administrator.

Sorry it took so long to post back Geek. I normally get an email when someone posts, but didnt on this one.....
I ran your attached program but no luck...... Appreciate your effort though.
I am at a loss on this one; never seen it before but evidently others have.
