Act crm trying to generate a quote file can't be found

I'm a newbie. Forgive me if this is an easy fix. I have act 2009 on my laptop (my main database in on this one) and my desktop (rarely used). They are not networked. In the opportunity section, whenever I try to create or generate a quote on my laptop it says "Error, File can't be found". On my desktop it works. The Act knowledge base doesn't help. And i tried reinstalling but still it doesn't work. Where and how do i create the file? I tried creating a quote template and save it as .adt but it will ony save as a word doc. Help! And thank you!
