I reformatted my Acomdata 250GB external HD, thinking it would just reformat. Once windows was done, it was not recognized at all by Vista. If I booted into Ubuntu Feisty (live CD), it would see the drive as if everything had worked correctly (a blank 250GB drive). I tried reformatting it again, this time with GParted (v3.4). This still didn't work correctly, but when first plugged in Vista saw a 30GB volume, and said it was required to format it, now it sees nothing once again (I didn't format like Vista asked).

If I check Vista's Disk Management, it says the drive is unreadable.
Anyone have any ideas?

I figured out how to solve my problem. I used G-Parted and changed the partitions to a 6GB ext3 partition, and then made the rest into an extended partition. Inside the extended partition i made a linux-swap partition which my computer was able to recognize because of the program fs-driver. thanks to anyone who looked into it for me.
