Acer Travelmate 270 screen cannot switched on after Fn +F5

Dear All,

I have last night pressed Fn+ F5 on my acer travelmate 270 to see the switch display function. the laptop screen went black for the first fn+f5, but no matter how many time i do that again, it just never come back. ( i have no external display attached to the laptop). i tried to reboot the laptop but it is still the same, black screen, although i know the laptop is booting up.
also, i tried to reboot in linux and the screen is working jsut fine, but jsut remained black in windows, cos i pressed the fn+f5 in windows.

please let mi know if anyone came across such problem and if knows any suggestion on how to fix it.

hi,

this may sound far fetched... hook up an external monitor and press Fn + F5 again, if it toggles to and from both screens.

if it does not work, try repairing Windows or reinstalling the hotkey drivers (F keys are part of the hotkey drivers, i think).

Hi Trigger Finger,

thanks for the suggestion. I was having problem as i dont have an external monitor. Now that i found one in my friend's office and it worked back after i plugged in.

thanks for your reply. i think i really have to be careful with the hot keys next time to avoid brining my laptop around looking for external monitor again.
