I found some fn combinations that are convenient to use, one puts my laptop to sleep. However I've known that shutting down the computer is bad using the power button, so I'm wondering if it's the same case for sleep.

Closing the lid helps keep the dust out of the keyboard and off of the screen.
I mean I no longer mind having that much dust accumulate anymore, I just wipe it down every morning and that's it. I wanted to turn off display when taking a short nap for a short period of time, so having the display turn off with a few buttons is very convenient.

Wiping the keys down does not get to the dust/dirt that has fallen through cracks and crevices around the keys.

But hey if you enjoy that daily chore, and since it is your computer, knock yourself out. ;)

Yeah, it's only for a few seconds unfortunately dust will collect in the crevices no matter what so at least I wipe off what I see at the surface.
