Hi all. I have an Acer Aspire 5734Z-4836 laptop thats roughly a year and a half old, and recently I've been having crashing issues with it. One night a few weeks ago it randomly shut off, rebooted, I logged back in and then it gave me the infamous blue screen of death. It did this 2 more times and then worked normal. Now if I shut it down, it does the same thing, proceed to crash 3 times then work fine. Now I just leave it on and just close it putting it in sleep mode, but I don't really like doing that all the time.

What I want to know is what the problem could be?

I don't think its viruses, though it was the initial problem. When it first did it I found my computer was infected with Trojans, but I cleaned those up imminently with Spyware doctor which seems to have cleared them up (when I had the viruses the computer was running very slow, but after cleaning them up it returned to normal).

What do you guys think? I have basic computer knowledge, but not real deep technical stuff lol so I don't know whats going on.

Is your laptop overheating? Place your hand on the bottom of the laptop and see if its hot or a "normal" temp.

Feels pretty normal, its not hot or anything. I have the laptop sitting on a desk supported by a couple blocks of wood so it sits about 1 1/2" - 2" off the desk so it gets adequate cooling.

Have you installed any new hardware or software to the computer?

Also are you still receiving the Blue Screen of Death?

Yup its still doing it. Had to restart it this morning for some updates.

The only thing I've installed lately was Spyware Doctor (Full purchased version, not a pirated copy) to get rid of the virus I thought were causing the problem. But this was after the first time it crashed 3 times.
