I have had this unit for about 18 months. A few days ago my Verizon PCMCIA broadband card stop working. Plugging it in did nothing. I have determined the card is good. When I tried a PCMCIA flash card in the slot, the machine reported new hardware but could not auto find the flash card driver. Something has gone wrong with this PCMCIA slot. I only have one. Any thoughts on how to fix this short of sending the unit in for repair.

Check to see if Acer's ePower management hasn't disabled the PCMCIA card slot to save power. Sometimes it doesn't go back to AC mode after being unplugged; it happens with my Aspire 5670.

PCMCIA Issue

I have an Acer eManager ICON on the desktop. I looked at that and did not see any power management options.

Should be a little icon in the system tray for power management. Double click it and see what's disabled.
