The operating system was changed from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7, after which the keyboard stopped working! I acquired it and loaded a copy of Windows Vista Home Premium which I had from an eMachines pc I bought some years ago. Keyboard still didn't work so I took it off and made sure the cable was connected properly (I thought it wasn't when I first saw it). Keyboard worked, but some keys didn't. Next time I turned it on those keys worked but some others didn't (including spacebar, b and v).
Does anyone think maybe the keyboard malfunction is to do with the wrong keyboard driver? Or what? It show as a PS2 Keyboard.
Unfortunately the person who reformatted the disk didn't make recovery disk copies before loading Windows 7.

Tanks for your suggestion Oscer1. I'll give it a try. Actually I am waiting delivery of a new keyboard so if this is the problem my laptop might be okay. Do laptop keyboards have different drivers to desktop keyboards?
