If the filesystem that W2K is running on is FAT32, mount it as a volume with Linux, and you can access the files.

AFAIK, Linux does not have a full NTFS file handler, but maybe someday. I hear of a read-only NTFS driver, but that's probably not all that useful.

One option is to convert the volume to FAT32, Partition Magic will do that for you.
