I I have office 2007. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, everything else in the package works great. Access however gives me this message:

I found some articles online, but they all speak about office 97? Ive never had office 97. I would love help on this as no one can give me a solution.

And I also tried my version of office 2003 professional and all other software on that worked great, but not access. So surely this must be a system, and not a software problem?

The only time I've seen this is when there's a hacked version installed. I had two different clients that gave me grief because I couldn't get THEIR version to work. Not saying this is the case, but it could be.

Hah  So you mean youve had two clients with genuine versions whove had this problem, or all hacked? Mine is, but only because I spent £50 on the key for my PC, uninstalled office to fix this problem, reinstalled with the same key and I was told the key is already in use. So Ive had no choice but to get a cracked copy.

But surely there cant actually be a problem with the key? If every other software in the package is working without a problem and it's just access?

Thanks so much for replying, I need a solution...

The two clients that had the same issue you're reporting had hacked copies, which is why I suggested this could be the case since that's the same issue you're having. Obviously I was correct since you just said so. That being the case, I'd call MS and explain the issue and see if they can help. I don't think you'll get any help with hacked software here since it's against the forum rules.

Like MS will help..

I just dont see why I should have to fork out another £50 for this software when Ive already bought it.

What would your solution be if it wasnt?

MS will help with licensing issues. I'm not sure what version of office you purchased for 50 quid, but unless it's the student and teacher version I'd be suspect. But if it were a clients machine, I'd uninstall all of the office products on the machine and reinstall just the version I wanted. If I entered the key and it said that it was in use, I'd call MS. I've done that many times and they've always been able to give me an answer, even if the answer was that the key I was trying to use for my client was bogus. As I see it, it's not my job to get their bogus software working, my job is to get their computers running without errors and that may require the purchasing of a new legit copy of the software. If they were reluctant to do that, I'd most likely suggest using something like www.openoffice.org as a cheap alternative.

Alright thanks mate. Well ive deleted this Office 2007 and my dad is picking me up a copy of office 2003 tommorow from his workplace with genuine keys as hes allowed two copies at home.

And you were asking, I bought the office 2007 pro plus genuine key off software 4 students, and I think someone has taken one of my keys and used them, I think one of my "friends" said something about it when he was round, which is probably why it's not working, just thought of that.

Well thank you for your help and I will reply back if I have problems with the office I will be purchasing tommorow.
