Hello,
I have just upgraded from a GF4MX420 to a Abit Siluro GF4Ti4200 OTES 64mb. I have installed the latest drivers from Nvidia (WHQL40.72).
When I try to access: Desktop properties\Settings\Advanced I get this message:
An error occured while Windows was working with the Control Panel file C:\WINNT\System32\desk.cpl.
When I install the drivers that came with the card the error message goes away.
Also many of my games have become unstable since the upgrade

My System:
Ecs K7S5A motherboard
Athlon XP 1800+
256 PC133 SDRAM

Good Idea,
However doing this will void my vid cards warranty.

I'm thinking that my problem lies with the fact that my video card has a default clock speeds of 275\550.

Or that my PC is running too hot. The CPU is currently running at 52 degrees celcius and the system temp is 35 degrees.
I'm a bit of a computer Newb and don't know if these temps are normal.

OK ,
I have formatted my hard drives and the desktop properties problem has gone away.

Games are still crashing though. I hear a short shreiking sound and then she locks up requireing a manual restart.

My video card is sold brand new with clock speeds above the normal Ti 4200 speeds(275\550).This is because it has a big cooler on it.

Could this be a bottleneck type of a problem?
Or is it a heat issue perhaps?

It seems that the hotter the weather the more often she locks up
but its not that hot here really and I have removed the side panel and strategically placed a fan!!!!!!!!!!

Buggered If I know
All I Know it that I bought this card because of its overclocking potential

have no idea cant help ya there.

windows 2000 is none for haveing problem's w/games.

<<<Good Idea,

how would useing a registry tweak void a warranty on a video card????

Just backup registry first if there problems revert back or
set a system restore point beforehand.

Also if you make a fresh install of the games after the video upgrade ----new options become available,,from within the game or am i just blowing hot steam???
