Hello i am trying to use an AMD phenom x4 955 A3 processor in my TA790GX A2+ motherboard. it works but as expected, the clock settings are very low around 800 MHz. I was wondering if i was to use a usb flash drive to update my boards bios, would it provide more compatibility for the A3 card and get the correct clock range?

It may, but I kind of doubt it as the Biostar TA790GX A2+ does not list support for the 955. First, though, try clearing the CMOS setup and resetting it to default.

Note: Be aware that even if you do everything right, there are several things which may go wrong when flashing BIOS; each of which may render your board unuseable.
The Bios update will say what it was designed to do. If what you are wanting is not listed in that update then it will most likely not accomplish what you want.
