A Weird Problem

Ok so my old Netgear WGT624 Brokedown after around 3 years.Despite the bad reviews i never had one problem with it.

Im using a Westell E90-610030-06 DSL modem/router provided by bellsouth, and a netgear WGR614v7.

I put my Westell in Bridge Ethernet mode, and set my router for PPPoe and enter my login information.

It will boot up and connect,i do a speedtest and it clocks in at the same speed as a direct connection.

However when i surf around it is very slow, when i connect another PC (also Xp) it is even SLOWERRRRR.After about 1 minute the internet DCs.

Ive been dealing with this for over 3 days and i dont know what else to do.

Some things you can try here.

  1. For wireless connections, change the channel on the router, I like channels 1, 6, and 11 in the US.
  2. Update the firmware to the latest version available on the manufacturer's site.
  3. Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure.

Many times these measures will resolve a lot of intermittent issues.
