This morning I turned on the computer as usual, opened up some red bull, waiting for Windows to initialize. When it was done, I started my daily routine of turning on Teamspeak, IRC, MSN Messenger and X-Fire. First two programs worked as they should, but when I opened Messenger, it gave me a '0xc0000022 failed to initialize' error. I just said to myself, oh well, I'll just reinstall the damn thing and go on X-Fire first, but alas, same error, all of the sudden.

That's when I got... slightly irritated. Firefox still worked, luckily, so I went on google and filled in the error number (0xc0000022). It gave me multiple hits, all indicating to some kind of security error, or something. I tried following the instructions on some sites, to no avail :( Microsoft's search didn't help me either.

Then it occured to me it could be spyware, but both AdAware AND Spybot wouldn't load :/

This is the point were I got... irritated to no end. All my Games worked fine, just most apps didnt, and all of them are pretty much legal or freeware too.

Basic list of programs that don't work anymore;

MSN Messenger (7.5)
X-Fire Latest version
Adaware
Spybot
Nero SmartStart
EMule

Those are the ones I checked, so there could be even more.

I have admin acces on all acounts I tried to acces these apps.

Help is very much appreciated, thanks in advance :(

Oh and also. I've installed XP again (I basicly have 2 XP installs on this computer now) and the new install doesn't give me the error.

Now I could revert to the new one and just let this slide, but alot of registries/settings/etc. are just default and messed up on the new install, so it'd take alot of time to 'remake' my current settings and stuff.

Problem fixed, did an AVG scan (only program that worked it seemed!) and it appeared 2 .dll's were infected, I downloaded from dll-files.com and tada :sayyes:

Too bad I didn't think of that earlier, thanks for your help :grin: :grin: :grin: :grin:
