hey my first post!

i stumbled across this forum whilst browsing the web for info on various things, and u lot seem a rather intelligent bunch!!

i had a quick search and couldn't seem to find anything, so thought i would make a new thread.

right, back to topic

i would like to install a Ubuntu (or similar) server for a small LAN that i admin at the mo, and would like rather a lot of help.

i would like the server to allow people to connect to it from any of the machines on the network, and always get the same stuff from their login. i.e. i want thin clients. i have come across something called LTSP (linux terminal server package or summat) and i think this may be related, but i really don't know what i'm doing.

basically, i don't know how to install the operating system on the client machines so that they can login to the server. i also don't know how to configure the server properly so that they can connect.

i am rather new to linux as a whole and don't know a great deal about it, so any help you can offer would be very much appreciated.

if anyone knows of a place where i can get a simple tutorial that will explain it to me in a way that i can understand with my very basic knowledge of linux, that would be awesome.

if anyone fancies writing me one themselves, i would be over the moon!!

ta in advance for any help guys.

Tom.

Hello,

Ubuntu comes with its own terminal services package with the basic installation. For help on using this utility, visit http://ubuntu.com and look it up.

The best (by far) Ubuntu installation guide can be found here:
