Hi List,

I have a broad band connection shared via a netgear router, running 2 w/s Win98se and 1 running XP Pro - all have internet and networked - can see each other, all are virus protected and have latest updates from MS.

1 98SE workstation will not browse to www.google.co.uk or when using yahoo, won't do any searches - keeps saying page not found -

Any ideas i am stumped.

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris and welcome to TSF! Are you getting a message like this (What is going on?
An unknown person has distributed a malicious program that hijacks the Windows
“hosts” file and redirects all search engine traffic to http://64.191.59.85.) when it comes up "page not found"?
If so...you've been hit by some spyware...try Spybot - S&D and see what it turns up...

Folks,

Thanks for your help - tracked it down to a Trojan virus that had modified my hosts file to display a page that does not exists.

www.symantec.com - very useful

Thanks
