i am now prepared to test for spark and injector pulse next time this happens.will let you know.

happened again!tests revealed no spark and no injector pulse.would like to test D.I.S. module inputs but my Haynes repair manual has testing procedures and wiring diagram of this module for only "95" and older models,though it claims to cover "91" to "02". anyone know where to find relevant data? perhaps someone already recognizes the problem from these symptoms?

Please be more specific of the model type and engine displacement of your car so that were in a better position to help you. The problem you describe is more of a bad ground issue than a component one, you will need to inspect your wiring harness since you say that the car recovers after a 20 minute wait period. Look for any corroded, loose or broken wires to computer ground side and the cam/crank sensors. Re-start the car and perform a wiggle test on the harness by shaking it as the engine runs, see if the engine idles abnormally or shuts down. If the engine shuts down while performing the test then its a connection problem. If the check engine light came on extract the codes from the computer and please post them.

Thanks for response.the car is an SW1,5 spd.manual with single overhead cam,1.9 L engine.forgot to mention,what seems strange to me is this problem does not set a code!could this be more evidence of computer ground issue?will do wiggle test a.s.a.p.
